The Last of the Mohicans
by James Fenimore Cooper
This book gives an entertaining and accurate historical view of the Colonies during the French and Indian war. This is what set the stage for the american Revolution, and it is masterfully told by one who knew the participants. A good story - the written word of old (75 years later) sets the tale to the time in history "perfectly". Anyone planning to read this would do well to read Mark Twain's "Literary Sins of Fenimore Cooper," which is in this collection It's fun to consider Mark Twain's literary sins as well, but he's right on the button as far as Cooper goes.
