The House of Mirth
by Edith Wharton
A well written story about whether one is formed by their circumstances or by their inner sense of self. The book kept me from cover to cover. Highly recommend it to those looking for a departure from normal romances. Talks about social mobility and and whether women were really free to follow their hearts or whether they are bound by circumstance. Absolutely brilliant wasn't expecting the end. Explains social constraints of 18th century. Alas present century young woman do not have a full appreciation of sacrifices/ struggles made for them.
